And away we will go!

Well the beans are out at school, so now it can become blog official ... which is one step below facebook official. ;)

Brandon was offered a job with a company in Portland yesterday. He, of course, accepted the position. He'll be a systems administrator which is a huge leap in his career (hooray!) and he'll be making more money, which is also nice. He also has the potential to earn a raise fairly quickly, which is good to know. He starts next Wednesday though, which means I'll be all by myself (well ... with Denali) for ~6 weeks, which is okay. It could've been worse -- he could've gotten the job with Washington County and been gone for closer to 6 months! So ... it's official ...

WE'RE MOVING TO OREGON!

Needless to say, this will be a very welcome change, although I am finding it to be really bittersweet. Knowing that I really WILL have to pack up my classroom is hard ... I love Rose Park. I love my colleagues and my administrators, and I love my kids. They have made this year so amazing and wonderful for me, and I am so glad that I've had the chance to grow at such a wonderful school. I told Rae this morning and she was really bummed, but totally supportive. I figured since I had told Rae, I could safely tell my kids everything. Up until this point, I had not told them that I'm pregnant and wasn't really planning on it until the end of the school year. However, I decided that since I was breaking the sad news to them, I would also break the happy news. They were pretty upset when I told them I was leaving -- it was really cute. (I better not wear any makeup on the last day of school!) The other side of the pendulum though, is how excited they were when I told them that I'm having a baby. Some of them clapped and they ALL had names that they wanted to share (one boy suggested Spaghetti ... hmm ... I don't think we'll be using that one. lol). Like I've said before, I have the greatest kids on the planet.

So anyway ... lots of changes in our lives within the last couple of weeks! We are excited though and we are looking forward to the new chapter in our lives. We are also thrilled to be moving closer to our parents, especially with their first grandchild on the way! We are also stoked about living closer to our best friends. While we love the people we know in Utah, we look forward to spending more time with people we've hardly seen in the last few years.

I would also like to say, while I'm on the topic ... when I was in high school, I couldn't WAIT to get out of Oregon and move away and never come back. Not because I didn't want to be near my family or anything, but just because I was born and raised in Oregon and wanted to get out and see other places. Now, I have traveled to 14 countries and lived in Utah for 2 years ... and all I want to do is go back. Oregon is home for me, and I'm glad that things have worked out so that we will be able to go back. And who knows, maybe once we get older I'll want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and move to Medford ... haha At this point, I'm not discounting anything. All I can say is that I am open to the possibility. :)

That being said, I'm going to gather my things and head home. I am exhausted. Growing organs is exhausting. I was even having a hard time keeping my yawns in during math club!! Geez!
Adios mis amigos
