Operation: ditch the binky, Day 3.

So ... it's Wednesday.

That means it has been three days without the pacifier during the day. I would give this process a C- so far, and certainly not for lack of trying! It's mainly because it is the most heartbreaking thing in the world to hear Aspen BAWLING and screaming for her ducky and choosing not to give it to her ... for hours. Ugh. Being a mom is hard work sometimes.

As of Monday, we are limiting her use of her beloved pacifier to her crib and on long car rides (like our drive to Medford this weekend). She did okay at daycare on Monday and Tuesday, but both evenings were extremely difficult on all of us. This is worse than sleep training, hands down. Last night she screamed for an hour and a half, with only brief moments of calmness. Heartbreaking, I tell you. Absolutely heartbreaking.

We were planning to just go cold turkey during the day, but out of desperation, did clip the end of a pacifier off and give it to her in hopes of her just being happy that it was in her mouth. It didn't work. And not only did it not work, but she got even more mad at the fact that it was broken. So we bagged that plan and went back to no pacifiers at all unless she is in bed.

She hasn't been sleeping well this week either, which could be compounded by the stress of this change, or it could just be an unfortunate coincidence that her week or poor sleep is coinciding with the start of all of this. Either way, it's made for a very tired Trask family.

Here's to hoping we start to some improvement soon!
