It feels weird to be writing blog posts that I know won't be posted right away. Just throwing that out there. :)
It has been quite the whirlwind week! The fact that I am pregnant is starting to sink in a little bit, especially since we have told our immediate families and have been talking about it more often. It's both terrifying and exhilarating!
On Monday, I was pretty much bursting at the seams with happiness, so even though I wasn't planning to, I decided to tell my boss, Ben. He's known about everything (going off the pill, etc) for quite some time anyway, so it seemed natural to tell him that we had succeeded. That and I just could not keep it in any longer. I have no idea how long we're actually going to be able to keep this under wraps. haha Anyway, Ben has 3 kids, so he was very excited to welcome us into the "parents of multiple children" club. :)
On Tuesday I was finally able to get in touch with my doctor's office, who had me go in for blood tests to measure my hormone levels since we have no idea how far along I actually am. They are going to order an ultrasound to date the pregnancy as well. Otherwise, the nurse agreed with me (that I was probably ~4 weeks when I tested), and the results from my blood work were in line with that hypothesis as well. We have our first doctor's appt scheduled for December 16th. We're seeing a midwife (because that's who was open), and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that yet. We will likely switch to an OB after our first appt, but we'll see. I'm up for just about anything once!
We decided not to tell our families until Thanksgiving since we had the opportunity to tell them face to face this time around. With Aspen it was a lot of confusion about whether or not I was actually pregnant and then we had to tell them everything over the phone, so it was exciting to get to see their faces this time around. Everyone was really excited - Caytlin even cried! It was very sweet! Sarah and Caytlin were definitely the most excited - we're talking the hands over their mouths type of excitement. Mom, Brad, and Marisa are all excited as well. Hooray for Baby #2!
Mom, Sarah, Marisa, and I had a good time coming up with obscure names for Aspen last time I was pregnant and the game has already begun this time around. The best we could find today was Bacula. Yes, a little bit like Dracula, except the CU is emphasized. Don't worry, we aren't seriously considering it ... or are we? ;)
